When choosing a new kitten from our breed of cats, it is good to think about the kinds of colour characteristics that these cats could potentially have.
We at SVNTY know that around the 4 week old point do the colours points start appearing on their ears and paws. Sometimes the colour points can start off looking cream colour, but can end up as a grey colour point, or lilac. The colour-point gene is responsible for the Ragdoll’s blue eyes, and all purebreds should keep these into adulthood.
Down below are the descriptions of the colour points.
There are 5 different point colours that you can come across when breeding Scottish folds. The six are Red, Lilac, Chocolate, Blue, and Seal. The colouring is very dependent on the Queen and Sire that are currently breeding.
Blue Points usually have grey coloured ears, nose paths, tail, and paws. The grey colouring usually only shows up on the ears and paws, but can vary across the entire body of the cat. We have noticed over time that the grey colouring deepens, and becomes a sharp one tone grey. A Blue Ragdoll cat are actually gray in color. They are majestic and are one of the the popular Ragdoll cat color! Below you will find a series of photos featuring blue Ragdoll cats.
Is our most popular colour combination that has shown up in our kitten litters. We find that the cream colour presents itself as a cappuccino mocha colour throughout the coat of our cats and as they age into their adult years. The chocolate appears stronger in the nasal to head area, and then on the paws, and tail.
Lilac is the rare colour point that a lot of people try to seek out. The reason for this is because the parent points will be the dominating colour when breeding. The litter Colouring, however, can come out as any variation so you never know what you are going to get when they are born and grow up. At six months is when we truly find out what staying colour the cats are going to have as they age.
These cats have dark brown points, which means seal colorpoint Ragdolls and especially seal bicolor Ragdoll cats share a stunningly dark-and-light contrasting look.
Dilutes is the description word for a gene in any one of a number of genes that act to create a lighter coat colour in living creatures. Ragdolls are usually born white and then dilute in colour. You can differentiate a Seal dilute to a Blue dilute anywhere between a one to two weeks. A chocolate and lilac kitten is determined after 3-4 weeks. It usually takes up to 2 years to determine the final colour pallet of a ragdoll Scottish Kilt munchkin mix.
